Welcome to Royal Leamington Spa’s Food & Drink Festival

Visit our Live Kitchen and see what’s cooking! Throughout the weekend a feast of local chefs will be showcasing their culinary skills to provide a fiesta of fun and informative cookery demonstrations.

Cookery Demos:
Saturday 7th

Simon Kelly, Aubrey Allen

11.30am – Simon Kelly, Aubrey Allen

Simon has been a butcher for almost 40 years and has seen the industry go through many changes. His speciality is product development and has created many award-winning dishes over the years. Simon enjoys the theatre of live demonstrations and hosting the Aubrey Allen Butchery School.

12.30pm – Sophie Hyam

Since winning the 2017 Aubrey Allen Home Cook of the Year competition I am now self employed as a Chef.  I still work with Scott’s Butchers and also at the Glasshouse & Royal Pump Rooms in Leamington Spa on both wedding events & private functions.
I have also had the privilege of working with Rosemary Schrager at Coventry’s food festival and Ken Hom.

Max Proudfoot

4.30pm – Max Proudfoot, Oscar’s Restaurant

Max joined Oscar’s almost 3 years ago and has worked his way up to head chef. He left his studies for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering to train to be a chef and hasn’t looked back. Oscar’s recently celebrated their 15 year anniversary – a great achievement for an independent, family-run restaurant in Leamington Spa.

5.15pm – Dough and Brew assisted by Slurp

John Martin opened Dough & Brew in 2016 as an extension of his street food business ‘Spectacular Goat’. They have reached the finals of the National Pizza Awards for the past three years and were named as the ‘Best Pizza in England’ by an international travel website. John believes His food ethos has helped him achieve this; ‘source the best you can as locally as you can and build on the flavour.’

Sunday 8th

Russell Allen, Aubrey Allen

12 noon – Russell Allen, Aubrey Allen

Russell is founder Aubrey’s grandson and prior to running the company, trained as a chef in the UK and France. Inspired by luxury establishments in London and beyond, Russell had the vision to turn his family butchers into a food hall almost 20 years ago and has continued to improve and revamp the shop ever since.

1.00pm – Aubrey Allen Cook of the Year Live Final

3:00pm – Tan Rosie

Lee Sylvester is one half of the mother and daughter team from Tan Rosie who have a Caribbean cookery school in Birmingham, create award winning food products and write recipe books all inspired by their family heritage of Carriacou, Grenada.

4.00pm – Henley Chocolates

Sally Daniel is a self-taught chocolatier who stumbled across the chocolate ‘good life’ just over 7 years ago. Sally started baking cakes fora local farm shop and Country Markets to earn a little money. At a Country Market the producer who made chocolate decided to leave and was looking to sell off his equipment. Sally gave chocolate making a go and was quickly hooked.  The rest is history and Henley Chocolates was founded!  Sally is passionate about using real ingredients, sourced locally and sustainably.  Making sure Henley Chocolates has a positive impact on the local environment and community, while at the same time producing high quality fabulously flavoured of chocolate is at the core of Sally’s beliefs.

Home Cook of the Year Final!

Sunday 8th– starts 1pm at the Live Kitchen

Once again we have teamed up with Aubrey Allen to crown the ‘Home Cook of the Year’.

Watch our 3 finalists battle plate to plate in front of a Live audience!
